The revenue streams from Google ads have not been enough to support the operations of Tribe. You may have noticed increased outages and downtime due to this. I love Tribe. I think it is the best content-driven community web site. I loathe Facebook and MySpace (my perogative). I am even willing to pay and monthly fee of $5 per month to keep Tribe alive. I don't know if that would be enough. Some of the Tribes I moderate and participate in are part of my daily life. I have met some quality people on Tribe and interacted in communities around the world.
